Lowell Brown, 99

Lowell Brown, 99, of Hampton, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Franklin Country View in Hampton. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton with burial in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Latimer. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday before the service at church. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. 

Lowell M. Brown, 99 of Hampton, Iowa entered his eternal rest on Sunday, January 28, 2024. He was born September 29, 1924 in Osceola, Iowa to Ira and Gertie (Walker) Brown. Lowell graduated from Van Wert High School, Van Wert, Iowa in 1942. He worked as a farm hand post high school before entering the United States Army 1946. He stood for Dwight D. Eisenhower upon discharge from the military.

He married Lorna Honold in May of 1950. Together they both found their passion in farming. They moved to their present farm in 1954. He harvested his last crop in 2015 and greatly enjoyed working together with son, Alan, in his farming operation. He especially enjoyed being a part of every harvest season even including riding in the combine the fall of his 99th birthday. A man of strong will and strong faith he was able to live on the farm till just prior to his passing.

Lowell was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hampton, active in the CAL school system serving on both the School Board and the CAL School Foundation Board and was active in the county 4-H organization for years. Attending the Franklin County Fair and the Iowa State Fair was always a highlight of his Summer. Lowell was a dedicated husband and father, a man of humble beginnings and a man of wisdom to share beyond measure. He was always especially proud of his roots established in southern Iowa.

Lowell is survived by his children, Dawn (Steve) Henning of Latimer, and Alan (Deb) Brown of Hampton. Grandchildren Kendra (Kirk) Haage of Pleasant Hill, Casey Henning of Latimer and Clint (Christie) Henning of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota and five great grandchildren.

Lowell was preceded in death by his wife, Lorna, son, Mark, parents Ira and Gertie, brothers Aubrey and Herman, sister Carlotta Rodemeyer and numerous in laws. Memorials may be directed to CAL School Foundation, Latimer, Franklin County Fair Foundation, Hampton, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Hampton.
