Lendell Foland, 79
Lendell Foland, 79, of Geneva, passed away on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020 at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Visitation was on Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton. Due to COVID restrictions, masks were required and a limit of 15 people inside at a time. A private family service was held.
Ardith Lendell “Len” Foland was born on October 12, 1941 in Osceola, Iowa to Arben and Dorotha (Neff) Foland. He graduated from Osceola High School, and continued his education in Minneapolis, Minnesota to become a certified Lab and X-Ray Technician.
In December of 1960, he was united in marriage to Sandra Hougard. From this marriage, Michael Lendell and Michele Rae were born. After his schooling, he moved to Kingsville, Texas, and later Austin, Texas, working in the lab and x-ray fields. In January of 1964, Len moved to Hampton where he took a position at Franklin General Hospital as Supervisor of the Lab and X-Ray Department. In 1972, he left the medical field and began farming for Wohlford Farms which was a life long occupation he enjoyed.
On July 2, 1988, Len was united in marriage to Frances “Fran” Alice Brammer. He was a member of the 1st Congregational United Church of Christ in Hampton.
Len enjoyed being around his family, especially when all his kids could be together. Some of his other hobbies included traveling, reading and chatting over a warm cup of coffee with his buddies. His most cherished pastime was restoring and tinkering on his grandfather’s classic car, a 1950 Chevrolet.
Len is survived by his wife Fran of Geneva, Iowa, his mother Dorotha Foland of Osceola, his children Michael (Pam) Foland of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, Michele (Jeff) Simpson of Geneva, Kathy (Ron) Paulsen of Woodinville, Washington, and Patty (Craig) Mahnke of Boerne, Texas, his brother Dwayne (Cathi) Foland of Des Moines, 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren with one more arriving at the end of December, nieces Nicolle (Steve) O’Reilly of San Francisco, California and Raquel (Aaron) Loree of Newton, Iowa, nephew Lee (Jolie) Crawford of Sigourney, Iowa and his beloved cat, Moses.
He was preceded in death by his father and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
