Joanne A. Nuehring, 85

Joanne A. Nuehring, 85, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the Hampton United Methodist Church. The Counsell Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton is caring for Joanne and her family.


Joanne Alberta Nuehring was born July 17, 1936, in Mason City, Iowa, to parents Albert and Olive (Reierson) Young. She worked as a Candy Striper at Mercy Hospital during high school. After graduating from Mason City High School, Jo worked as a union representative at Motoday for many years. On September 16, 1986, Joanne was married to Roger Nuehring at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.



She was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Moose Lodge #1328 in Mason City, first joining in 1988. Jo spent her free time traveling, playing cards, and watching her Dallas Cowboys play football.



Joanne is survived by her husband, Roger Nuehring of Hampton, brothers, Richard (Kay) Young of Cedar Rapids and David (Tonya) Young of Houston, Texas, daughter Patti (Jim) Crider of Stathom, Georgia, grandchildren; Tyler Tumilson of Mason City, Levi LaRue of Eagle Point, Oregon, Andy (Sara) Boyd of Anthem, Arizona, Nicole Tomlinson of Marshfield, Wisconsin, James (Fawna) Crider Jr. of Canyon Lake, Texas, Troy (Cynthia) Crider of Stathom, Georgia, and many great and great/great-grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Jim Young, Jerry Young, and John Young, children; Michael Stickney, Gerald Duane Stickney, Sandra Jo (Stickney) Boyd, Lisa Kay (Stickney) Tumilson, infant daughter Cheryl, and great grandson Sgt. James Matthew Crider.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Hampton United Methodist Church.
