Helen Brandt, 90, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

She was born on August 4, 1931, in Hampton, to Hilko and Lena (Meyers) Boelkes. Helen attended school in Hansell.

Helen was united in marriage to Harold Brandt at the Little Brown Church in 1952; to this union one son Kenneth was born. Together Helen and Harold owned and operated Harold’s Service and Café in Bradford from 1959 to 1982; Harold ran the service station and Helen ran the restaurant.

Helen was a former member of the Bradford United Methodist Church and the Morgan United Methodist Church, rural Dows.

She enjoyed gardening, attending to her flowers and strawberry patches, quilting, baking and cooking. Helen had a love for all animals; working with livestock and caring for her cats and dogs. She especially had a love for Horses and enjoyed horseback riding years ago.

Helen will be missed by her son, Kenneth Brandt of Hampton; sister, Edna (George) Wright of Hampton; sister-in-law, Eunice Brandt of Hampton; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and three sisters.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Maynes Grove Cemetery, rural Hampton. Counsell Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton is caring for Helen and her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Franklin General Hospital in Hampton or MercyOne North Iowa Hospice in Mason City.
