HD-CAL Speech earns All-State honors

The HD-CAL Speech Team traveled to the State Individual Speech contest in Waverly on Saturday, March 13.

Twenty-six performers participated in 41 events at the speech contest between the varsity and freshman teams. Of them, 34 earned a Division 1 rating and seven earned a Division 2 rating.

Two large group events earned All-State Honors: "Basketball," a choral reading featuring Benji Sauke, Jordan Severs, Jordan Cady, Will Sackville, Mario De La Cruz, Jace Spurgeon, and Tony Valenzuela; and "The Other Room," an ensemble acting performance featuring Elle Westhoff, Kale Folkerts, Michael Rosenberg, Alondra Morteo, Jakie Uthe, and Max O’Dell.

All-State nominations will be announced this week.
