With indoor track and field underway, the outdoor Hampton-Dumont-CAL track and field season is upon us, and the Bulldogs are ready to get the season started. In 2025, the Bulldogs placed in the top five in five of their nine outdoor track meets, with their best placing being placing third in the Jim Basye Coed Relays.

The Bulldogs sent one athlete to the state track meet, as Beau Morton qualified in the shot put throw, where he placed 18th in Class 3A with a throw of 48 feet, 11 inches. The Bulldogs had a relatively small senior class last season, losing just five seniors to graduation, but those seniors, such as Colin Bird and Isaac Sauke, were important pieces to the team. The Bulldogs will be bringing a lot of strong production back, like Beau Morton, who will look to take that next step and help push the team towards their goals.

The Bulldogs have already competed in one indoor track meet this season, where they finished eight out of 18 teams in the Wartburg High School Invitational on Tuesday, March 17. The Bulldogs had four athletes medal in the meet. Senior Aaden Keehn placed first in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.09 seconds. Beau Morton placed second in the shot put throw with a throw of 51 feet, 0.25 inches. Sophomore Bayden Wrich placed second in the 55 meter race with a time of 6.71 seconds. Senior Carter Arends placed fourth in the boys 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.39 seconds.

The Bulldogs will compete in one more indoor meet, the North Iowa Indoor Championships, on Friday, March 27 at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs' first outdoor track meet of the season is the Roland-Story Coed Track Meet at Roland-Story High School on Thursday, April 2 at 4 p.m.
