Former Second Lady visits Rustic Brew on behalf of Joe Biden

Jill Biden, long time educator and advocate and wife of Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden, visited Hampton last week to generate enthusiasm for Joe’s campaign ahead of the caucus.

Speaking to a crowded house at Rustic Brew, Biden conveyed why voters should consider Joe as they head to their respective caucus locations on Monday, February 3.

She detailed three reasons that have both attracted supporters and could also appeal to undecided voters.

The first, she said, is because of his ability to attract independent voters.

“Joe’s not too left or too right, he’s in the middle,” she said, adding that, nationwide, she’s heard of Republican voters who would switch from voting for Incumbent President Donald Trump again to supporting Joe in the General Election, should he win the nomination.

The second, she said, is because of his success in swing states. According to national polls, she said, Joe is the sole candidate who is polling ahead of Trump in swings states such as Pennsylvania, Ohio and Wisconsin.

“That’s imperative,” she said.

The third and final reason she gave is the “achievability” of the goals that he has identified.

“His ideas are bold, they’re progressive but he has a pathway to get them done,” she said. “He knows how he’s going to do it and he knows how he’s going to pay for it.

“He is the kind of president that we need,” she added.

Biden also took and answered questions on behalf of Joe, which ranged from concerns about tariffs, biodiesel, education and healthcare.

Biden said that stops in communities such as Hampton are vital to Joe’s campaign because it gives them the opportunity to meet people in rural communities and hear their thoughts and concerns first hand.

“We’re not taking anything for granted and that’s why I’m traveling every day to a lot of rural communities and listening to Iowans,” she said. “One thing about Iowans is they take this very seriously. They look at all the candidates, all the positions…and then they form an opinion.

“It’s great to get out and meet people and see what they’re looking for in a president,” she added.
