Dennis Dean Horner, 78

Dennis Dean Horner, age 78, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Dennis was born to Dale and Edith (Siems) Horner on 11-22-44.  He grew up in Geneva, Iowa.  He has one brother, Kent.  Denny was united in marriage to Janet Berg on May 2, 1965.  They had three daughters, Wendy, Lisa and Lori.  Denny worked for Houston Construction, Shaw Construction and later contracted jobs with friend and partner, Ron Ryan.  Denny was very athletic and spent years playing and coaching sports with his girls.  He continued to attend sporting events for his grandchildren.  He enjoyed hunting, trapping, playing cards, building things in his shop, and spending time with his family.  Denny spent six years serving his country in the Iowa National Guard.  He was an avid New York Yankees and Iowa State Cyclone fan.  His dog, Buddy, was a loyal friend that loved to go on rides in the truck with him.  Denny will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Janet Horner; daughters, Wendy (Scott) Wikert, Lisa (Brad) Judy, and Lori (Andrew) Howe; grandchildren, Bradley (Shayla) Judy, Jacob Judy, Nickolas Judy, Reagen Howe, Riley Howe, Owen Howe, and Lola Howe; great-grandchildren, Amandolin and Bradley Judy; brother, Kent (Cindy) Horner; nieces, Renee (Eric) Loberg and Marissa Horner; nephew, Jared (Kristina) Horner; and six great-nieces/nephews. 

A memorial visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday, March 2, at Counsell Woodley Funeral Home in Hampton.  The memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 3, at Faith Baptist Church in Hampton.
