Dale Earl Greimann, 66
Dale Earl Greimann, 66, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, passed away in his home on December 28, 2020 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dale was born in Hampton, Iowa on June 2, 1954 to Milo and Burnice (Petheram) Greimann. He graduated from Sheffield-Chapin High School in 1972. He went on to graduate from North Iowa Area Community College, studied at Northern Arizona University, and continued on to receive a degree in education from the University of Northern of Iowa in 1976. Dale later furthered his education earning both a Master’s Degree and an Educational Doctorate from the University of Northern Iowa.
He was united in marriage on August 6, 1977 to Peggy James in Monona, Iowa. They were blessed with two daughters.
Dale was a lifelong learner and educator, with a 37-year career in education. He began his teaching career in Schaller, Iowa and subsequently took a high school science teaching position in Iowa Falls where he also coached football, basketball and baseball. Dale accepted his first administrative position as principal in Dunkerton, Iowa, later settling in Independence, Iowa where he was a high school principal for 12 years. His first superintendency was at North Winneshiek Community School District in Iowa. He went on to serve as superintendent of schools at East Buchanan Community School in Winthrop, Iowa and Galena Unit School District #120 in Galena, Illinois. After Dale’s retirement in 2013, he and Peggy moved to Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
Dale was a loving husband, father and grandfather, known for his inside jokes and frequent games with his grandchildren. He loved sports and played football, basketball and baseball in college. Golf became his passion, and he loved to share his passion for the game, teaching his daughters and grandchildren how to swing a club. He followed most sports and was an avid fan of the University of Northern Iowa Panthers and the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved music and is well-known for his playlists and dance moves. Dale’s humor, love and enthusiasm for life will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Dale is survived by his wife, Peggy Greimann of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; daughters, Jaclyn Greimann of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Leslie (Adam) Schulte of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Milo, Bastian and Amelia Schulte of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Don (Alice) Greimann of Hampton, Iowa; mother-in-law, Bonnie James of Monona, Iowa; sister-in-law, Brenda (Greg) James of West Union, Iowa and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Burnice Greimann; sister, Lois Mayne; brother, Edward (in infancy); and father-in-law, Harold Joe James.
A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to: First Tee – Coastal Carolinas (www.firstteecoastalcarolinas.org/memorials); or a local youth sports organization in your area.
