Bill Ballard
Bill Ballard, 73, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.
Bill was born George William Ballard, Jr. on October 12, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, to George William Ballard, Sr. and Ola Lorean Ballard.
Bill graduated from Eastern High School and attended Jefferson Community College, both in Louisville. He married Jozette Dangerfield Booth; their marriage ended in divorce. Bill then married Deborah Ann Brewer on November 10, 1979, in Louisville, Kentucky. He worked as a warehouseman for Martin Brower in Louisville, worked for SeaBee Corp in Hampton, was a welder at Winnebago in Hampton and worked security for Wakenhut.
Bill was a former member of the Optimist Club in Louisville. He enjoyed reading, playing cards, fishing, woodworking and debating politics.
Bill is survived by his daughter Kristina (Daniel) Raisch of Hampton, son Michael Ballard of Hampton, daughter Leah Caputo of Annapolis, Maryland, grandchildren Christopher William Ballard, Abbey Leigh Raisch, Kara Anne Raisch, Caroline Caputo and Will Caputo, siblings Wilda Bradford, Ann (Mark) Plummer, Fay Duvall and Daniel Leslie (Kim) Ballard, longtime companion Diana Norem, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Ola, wife Deborah, sister Ethel Colvin Vickers and brother-in-law Danny Duvall.
Memorial contributions may be given to Bill’s family.
A Celebration of Life was held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2020, at Harriman Park Shelter House, 324 19th Ave NE, Hampton. A private family burial took place in the Hampton Cemetery. The Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton assisted Bill’s family.
