SHEFFIELD – A night after earning career rebound No. 500, West Fork’s Emily Caspers had another big night for West Fork in a 66-31 win over Northwood-Kensett on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
The 6-foot-1 senior DMACC signee went off for 28 points and eight more rebounds, adding an assist, steal and blocked shot as the Warhawks improved to 6-8 overall, 6-4 in the Top of Iowa East Conference.
SHEFFIELD – Facing a similar press break from the previous night against Class 1A No. 9 Clarksville, the North Butler girls’ basketball team was able to handle West Fork to take a 43-29 victory over the Warhawks and improve to 4-6 overall, 3-4 in the Top of Iowa East Conference.
The Bearcats also shot the ball well, something West Fork’s girls have not been doing, helping to turn a 23-21 deficit into a 30-23 lead entering the fourth quarter.
It was North Butler’s first win over West Fork since the 2013-14 season when the Bearcats went 19-2.
SHEFFIELD — A glaring example of how West Fork girls’ basketball team has shot the ball was its performance in the third quarter of the Warhawks’ 50-33 loss to Mason City Newman.
They were 2-of-16 from the field as the Lady Knights turned a 24-20 halftime advantage to a 34-25 lead.
Coach Rodney Huber’s squad finished 14-of-52 for the entire game much to the frustration of the West Fork head man.
ACKLEY – A first meeting between West Fork and AGWSR girls’ basketball team was less exciting than anticipated as the Class 1A No. 15 Cougars ran away with a 49-18 victory over a young Warhawks’ team.
Coach Laurie Gann’s team had a good defensive plan against West Fork’s only returning starter, 6-foot-1 post Emily Caspers, who recently signed a letter of intent to play basketball at DMACC.
