Uhlenhopp repeats as first team all-NCC

HAMPTON – Bulldog senior Drew Uhlenhopp repeated as first team all-conference in the North Central Conference announced last week.

The shortstop for coach Matt Lokenvitz’s team had his season cut short by the COVID-19 virus, finishing with 110 career hits, which placed him fifth in the school record book.

He was 9-of-21 at the plate this season, including three doubles and four RBI with a batting average of .429.

Visitors win battle of the Bulldogs

HAMPTON — Keyed by a big fourth quarter from senior Wyatt Wegener, the Algona boys downed Hampton-Dumont/CAL, 56-50, in Friday night’s North Central Conference basketball battle of the Bulldogs.

Algona maintained its hold on second place in the league standings at 9-2 and raised its overall record to 13-3. Hampton-Dumont/CAL slipped to 1-11 in the conference and 3-14 overall.

Wegener finished with 30 points on the night for the winners. Jason Cecil collected 12.
