HAMPTON – Bulldog senior Drew Uhlenhopp repeated as first team all-conference in the North Central Conference announced last week.

The shortstop for coach Matt Lokenvitz’s team had his season cut short by the COVID-19 virus, finishing with 110 career hits, which placed him fifth in the school record book.

He was 9-of-21 at the plate this season, including three doubles and four RBI with a batting average of .429.

Earning second team all-conference was junior third baseman Mario De La Cruz, who was 4-of-5 in stolen base attempts. Third team honors went to junior Benji Sauke, left fielder, who batted .389 and was a stellar outfielder, finishing with a perfect fielding percentage with 17 total chances.

The Bulldogs finished in a tie for fifth place in the eight-team conference with a 2-4 record because of the shortened season.

Four players were unanimous first team selections, including Humboldt’s Jacob Thurm, as well as Tyler Olson, Sean Carver and Devon Stoakes from Webster City.
