Zombies, ghosts and plenty of ghouls symbolize the unity of a Hampton neighborhood.
Every Halloween, houses in the Third Street NE area participate in a Halloween War to see who can create the best spooky environment for trick-or-treaters. What started as a friendly competition between neighbors Angie Warneke and Sarah Morton has since evolved into a haunted hootenanny involving half a dozen homes in the neighborhood.
“It’s really bonding,” she said. “We’ve gotten to be good friends and we’re good sports about it. It brings us all together.”
