Multitude of Warhawks net TIC All-Conference honors

Despite early postseason exits, the West Fork baseball and softball teams came out with several positives. One of those accomplishments is the development of youth, and the other achievement is bringing home several honors from the Top of Iowa Conference.

Announced on July 14 by the West Fork athletic department, seven Warhawks were named to the Top of Iowa Conference’s All-Conference squads. The baseball team boasted one first team selection, a second team selection and an honorable mention, while the softball team hauled in one first team selection, two second team selections and an honorable mention.

Junior Maddie Hubka was the Warhawk girls’ lone first team all-conference, player, setting a school record for runs scored with 27 runs. Hubka also led the team in hits (33), home runs (3), batting average (.398), one-base percentage (.432), slugging percentage (.614), and stolen bases (11).

Senior Kellen Cameron picked up West Fork boys’ TIC first team all-conference honors, pacing the Warhawks in runs scored (28), homers (2), one-base percentage (.500), slugging percentage (.588) and stolen bases (17).

Junior Kalli Trewin was the first of the TIC second team all-league selections, spearheading the West Fork girls in doubles (8) and RBIs (20). Kalli also holds the school record for a career in both doubles and RBIs (20 doubles, 50 RBIs).

Little sister and eighth grader Libby Trewin also received a nod for the second-team all-conference squad, setting a school record for strikeouts (149) in a single season. At the dish, Libby hit .333 with 13 RBIs.

Senior Kayden Ames took home second team all-conference honors for the Warhawk boys, leading the red and black in hits (30), RBIs (23), and batting average (.361).

Junior Madisyn Bonner claimed a spot on the honorable mention squad from within the TIC, averaging .253 at bat while picking up eight RBIs. Bonner also recorded five stolen bases for Warhawks.

Senior Noah Maske rounded things out for the West Fork boys, tabbing honorable mention honors from the TIC.

As the Warhawk boys bid farewell to their seniors and all-conference members following a 12-15 record. The West Fork girls will see all of its all-conference selections return to the diamond in 2022, after a 10-14 overall mark.
