Mary Elizabeth Pecha, 55

Mary Elizabeth Pecha, 55, of Dumont, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hampton, with burial in the Dumont Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 10, 2023, at Counsell Woodley Funeral Home in Dumont.

She was born on March 29, 1968, in Hampton, Iowa, to Leonard and Mary (Lutz) Pecha. Mary was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Dumont until it closed and then her family moved their membership to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hampton.

Mary attended school in Hampton and after graduating she worked through Access, Inc. and was employed at several locations over the years. Her favorite and most recent was Godfather’s Pizza in Hampton where she worked for 22 years.

Mary was sweet, loving, independent and hard working. She took great pride in how she looked. You never saw her without makeup, perfect hair, nails painted, decked out in rings and bracelets and smelling like flowers!

She enjoyed taking care of her pets, Lucy, her dog and Daisy, her cat, and she filled the bird feeders religiously. She loved to color and made stenciled birthday cards with poems written inside for her family and friends. She also enjoyed music, dancing, bowling, and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. She never missed the KWWL weather forecast and loved birthday parties, wedding receptions, graduation parties, family reunions and going on vacation.

Mary is survived by her brothers, Richard (Terry) Pecha of Latimer, Stan (Denise) Pecha of Dumont, Dale (Verla) Pecha of Hampton, Wayne (Janet) Pecha of Dumont and her sister, Bev (Mike) Barber of Dumont as well as 29 nieces and nephews and 32 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
