Thursday, round 2 of districts, the Warhawks faced up against the Warrior from North Union.  North Union has put together a solid season coming from a slow start but playing really well down the stretch.  The coaching staff for West Fork knew this was going to be a tough matchup from the day the brackets came out as North Union has a balanced offense, really good point guard, and a couple of post players that can be tough to handle.  In a very exciting game, with another amazing atmosphere, Warhawks and Warriors went toe to toe throughout.  In a high scoring affair, period one ended with North Union 22, Warhawks 16, and both teams having shot really well from the outside.  The second quarter closed with an 8-0 Warhawks run  which saw a thunderous dunk from Cayde Eberling, all to propel the Warhawks to 43-38 at the half.  Coaches were pleased with the first half play but emphasized the importance of backside help with hard closeouts.  In the third quarter North Union went on a run, building a ten point lead that the Warhawks would cut down to 7 late in the 4th quarter, but could never overcome.  Final score, Warhawks 65 North Union 75.  Coaches talked about how proud they were of the team members after the game, and how much the seniors have meant to this program as evidenced by their capturing another conference title, along with their irreplaceable and steadfast leadership.  It’s never easy to end a season but the Warhawks ended theirs playing really well against a high quality team.  Sage Suntken went 7/13 from 3, finishing with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists; Cayde Eberling 22 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists; Gavin Cronk 8 points, 5 rebounds; Josiah Chibambo 5 points. Seniors Josiah Chibambo, Trevor Gurtiz, and Casyn Guerrero end their career with a 17-5 overall record, 14-2 conference record, and a conference championship!
