Tuesday night the Warhawks took to the floor in another conference matchup with North Butler. The JV game was competitive on both ends as they matched up pretty well. The Warhawks prevailed 35-28 after overcoming early turnover mistakes. Coach Bohman spoke after the game about how proud he was of their effort on both ends of the floor and how happy he was that they topped a much improved North Butler squad. Nolan Shreckengost and Austin Altick led the Warhawks with seven points each in the game, while A.J. Anderson and Ashyr Wiseman scored six each.
In the varsity contest on Senior Night, the Warhawks topped the Bearcats 62-47. In the previous contest at North Butler, West Fork trailed 23-9 in the second quarter before clawing their way to a victory. Tuesday night was a different story however. West Fork jumped on North Butler 15-4 after one quarter of play and 28-14 at halftime. The coaches talked strategy at halftime and discussed with the team whether they should be expecting a change in defense, or for North Butler to pound the ball into Corbin Lewis more. North Butler came out in a triangle-and-two defense, attempting to limit Sage Suntken and Cayde Eberling. The other athletes stepped up in a time of need, demonstrating the confidence and growth they’d gained from earlier in the year. Trevor Guritz led West Fork with 14 points, while Eberling delivered and 13 points and four assists. Suntken had a strong all-around game with 12 points, seven assists and five rebounds while Josiah Chibambo scored 10 points, Edison Maske eight and Gavin Cronk five. Cronk also pulled down seven rebounds.
The Warhawks moved to 14-3 overall and 13-1in conference play.
