Tuesday night the West Fork High School boys’ basketball team welcomed Central Springs to Sheffield.

The JV team continued their winning ways with a 26-point victory where they were able to get all players into the game, and everyone played a hand in this decisive victory.

The Warhawk varsity, looking to bounce back from a loss on Saturday, came out with intensity and really brought the energy. The boys quickly jumped out to a 10-0 lead, only to have Central Springs shoot it well from the 3-point line for a close, back and forth game.

Eventually, the Warhawks were able to pull away late for a 71-62 victory.

Cayde Eberling led all scorers with 27 points while pulling down five rebounds and dishing out three assists; Edison Maske scored 11 points; Gavin Cronk managed 10 points and seven rebounds and Cannen Vold saw six points and four rebounds.

The Warhawks moved to 12-3 overall and 11-1 in conference play.

Friday 1/27/23

Friday night the Warhawks took to the floor in another conference matchup with Saint Ansgar.  Road conditions caused the JV game to cancel but both schools were willing to get the varsity contest in.

The Warhawks jumped out to an early lead 10-2 and continued to outscore the Saints in every quarter other than the fourth.  The smaller Warhawk team was physical and disciplined as it was able to keep Saint Ansgar off the offensive glass for much of the game. A key to victory was to keep Saint Ansgar’s points in the paint below 30, and the Saints were only able to put up 20 in the paint.  The Warhawk coaches said they were proud of their team’s ability to execute, remain fundamentally sound and play physical without too many fouls. The Warhawks pulled out a 52-42 victory at home.  Sage Suntken scored 19 points and pulled down six rebounds while Gavin Cronk scored nine points and had five rebounds, Cayde Eberling had nine points, six rebounds and four assists and Trevor Gurits had five points, three assists and three steals.

The Warhawks moved to 13-3 overall and 12-1in conference play.
