Young Bulldog Team Building Confidence
The Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs young girls basketball team has being learning and growing a lot while dealing with the weather and injuries. Many players have had to grow and step into roles that they might not have expected to at the beginning of the season. These difficulties are starting to benefit the Bulldogs as injured players return to the team.
The Bulldogs would play their third conference game of the season against the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets. The rivalry game would be a tightly contested game with evenly matched teams. The Bulldog defense would start the game strong, holding the Cadets to 10 points in the first quarter, but the Bulldogs would only score 10 points of their own. The second quarter would see both teams continue to battle, with the Bulldogs leading at the half 24-23. The Bulldogs would pull away a little in the third quarter behind strong defense and some opportunistic shot making. The Cadets would rally back in the fourth quarter to take the lead and ultimatley win the game 51-45 over the Bulldogs. Sophomores, Jordan Valley and Lily Hambly would lead the Bulldogs in points each scoring 14. Hambly would get a double-double with 14 rebounds. Valley would add 2 assists. Brooklyn Valley would add 11 points for the Bulldogs. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 0-6 and 0-3 in the the North Central Conference.
The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to return to the court Tuesday December 20th at Webster City and then travel to Britt to play the West Hancock Eagles on Thursday December 22nd.
