Helen “Patty” Marie Blau, 92

Helen “Patty” Marie Blau, 92, of Latimer, Iowa, passed away November 7, 2022, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at Counsell Woodley Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield. Burial will take place in the Alexander Cemetery. Counsell Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton is caring for Patty and her family.

She was born April 12, 1930, in Belmond, Iowa, to Julius and Ella (Willia) Wagoner. She was the youngest of nine children. During the first few weeks of her life, her sisters decided she should be called Patty not Helen and the name stayed with her for life. Patty attended Belmond Schools.

She was married to Marvin Blau on January 17, 1950, in Belmond. They enjoyed 61 years together. Patty worked for many years in the kitchen at CAL Community School. She was a member of Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield. She enjoyed bowling, bingo, playing cards and most of all, her family. Patty attended every event that her children and grandsons were involved in. She was an avid sports fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Packers and the Hawkeyes.

Patty is survived by her daughter Janelle Blau of Latimer; son Dale (June) Blau of Latimer; grandson Adam (Melissa) Blau of Allison; grandson Aaron (Mandy) Blau of Lisbon; and great grandchildren Ava Blau, Cayden Blau, Jordan Blau, Hannah Blau, Katelynn Johnson and Blake (Landree Kobliska) Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, daughter Cathy, an infant son and siblings.
