Bulldogs girls start out 3-1
Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls basketball start the year off hot defeating three of four opponents.
They’d drop a 48-50 loss against Aplington-Parkersburg at home on Nov. 22.
After the loss, the Bulldogs went on a three-game win streak.
On Nov. 29, they defeated AGWSR, 52-32.
On Friday, the girls traveled to Iowa Falls-Alden and claimed a 41-20 victory.
The team then defeated Saint Ansgar at home on Saturday, 56-38.
Against Aplington-Parkersburg, HD-CAL found themselves down, 27-32, at half time.
A 12-9 fourth quarter, brought them close, but not close enough to the Falcons.
Brooklyn Valley and Jordan Valley both lead with 11 points.
Avery Hanson had eight rebounds.
Against AGWSR, the Bulldogs doubled the points of the Cougars, 18-9, in the first quarter.
From there they piled on the points before half time.
Hanson scored 18 points.
On Friday, HD-CAL and Iowa Falls-Alden deadlocked at 11-5 in the Bulldogs favor at halftime.
HD-CAL exploded in the third quarter with 20 points.
Hanson and Lauren Meader both led with 16 points.
Hanson also had 12 rebounds.
In a similar vein, the Bulldogs had a huge third quarter to defeat Saint Ansgar.
Down 24-27 at half, HD-CAL scored 21 points to run away with the game.
Hanson had 22 points; she had nine rebounds.
Meader scored 15.
