Two ends of the spectrum: West Fork advances 106, heavyweight to district

JEWELL – West Fork’s top-ranked 106-pounder Kale Petersen and 285-pound senior Levi Janssen will represent the Warhawks at this Saturday’s district wrestling meet after advancing out of South Hamilton High School’s Class 1A Sectional 8 meet on Saturday, Feb. 6.
Petersen dominated his way to the 106-pound title, outscoring his opponents, 34-4.
Janssen had to emerge as the sectional runner-up after being pinned by top-ranked and defending state champion heavyweight Chet Buss of North Butler-Clarksville. He had to wrestleback for a 5-2 decision over Marshal Schlader of Rockford.
Three other Warhawks finished fourth and one fifth as coach Jared Arbegast’s team finished sixth in the eight-team sectional field with 78 points. Nashua-Plainfield and South Hamilton advanced to the regional duals with the top-two team finishes. AGWSR was third by a mere half-point.
