Bulldogs claim medals at Dick Pollitt Go-Hawk Classic

WAVERLY – A pair of Bulldog sophomores finished among the top-10 in their respective races to earn medals at the annual Dick Pollitt Go-Hawk Classic, hosted by Waverly-Shell Rock and run on the Wartburg Max cross country course on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
Sophomore Sydney Buseman was 10th in the freshman-sophomore girls’ race, kicking it into high gear down the final stretch to improve her standing from 25th as she made the final turn. She completed the race in 24 minutes, 34 seconds.
Zayden Erdman, also a sophomore, fell back some from his seventh-place position in the final home stretch in the boys’ race, but still placed ninth in 19:04 to join Buseman as a medal winner for the night.
“The kids are running well,” Bulldog coach Traci Moorehead said. “Last night was hotter than we have been used to, which made the evening more difficult. But, the kids pushed through and ran hard. Sydney Buseman continues to be our leader on our girls’ side along with Zayden on the boys’ side. He has three top-10 finishes, the last one being within his grade level.”
