KLMJ radio’s “Newsmaker” series celebrated its 1,000th episode the same way it began.
Last Wednesday’s edition hit the century mark and featured an interview with KLMJ owner Craig Donnelly and Hampton Mayor Brook Boehmler – the exact pairing when the program first aired on Feb. 9, 2015.
The Monday through Friday Newsmaker program, which Donnelly crafted as a way to fill the void left after the end of the Paul Harvey show in 2015, gives professionals, organization representatives, event planners and politicians five minutes during the noon hour to update listeners on current events in the area.
Some weeks featured individual guests providing updates while other weeks carried a theme, such as library week when the Newsmaker program had five different libraries talk about their respective branches.
The segment has become a staple of KLMJ’s programming and has strived to put the spotlight on as many people as possible without accumulating a lot of repeats.
