Sue Rodemeyer can’t help but laugh a little as she readies for retirement from Hampton-Dumont High School. A secretary at H-D for the last 21 years, Rodemeyer said she never would’ve dreamt her career would end at the same place she graduated high school in 1973.
“I never dreamt I’d come back,” she thought. “I never thought I’d end my career where I left and went out on my own.”
After graduation, she and her family lived in Marshalltown, in the Pella, Iowa area, Davenport and Phoenix, Arizona.
“We were away from Hampton for 23 and a half years,” she said.
The opportunity to move back to Hampton and begin her position at H-D presented itself in 1997. Rodemeyer said she’s now worked for five principals at H-D High School. The first, Barry Johnson, was the principal when she attended school in the 70s.
