About The Hampton Chronicle

 

Established in 1878, The Hampton Chronicle has proudly served Franklin County and the surrounding region for nearly 150 years. The Chronicle is a weekly newspaper that was operated by the Purcell family for several decades before being acquired in 1970 by Mid-America Publishing Corporation. On April 2, 2026, The Chronicle was acquired by OnTheGoMedia, which now oversees operations from its offices in Hampton, Iowa.

 

The Chronicle serves readers across Franklin and Butler Counties, including the communities of Hampton, Hansell, Geneva, Dumont, Aredale, Ackley, Iowa Falls, Popejoy, Alden, Bradford, Chapin, Sheffield, Coulter, Alexander, Latimer, Rowan, Meservey, and Dougherty. The paper also serves families and students within the Hampton-Dumont-CAL, West Fork and AGWSR Community School Districts.
