Both visitors and local residents alike turned out in droves last Friday for the ever-popular Wine Walk in downtown Hampton.

The annual event is sponsored by the Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce (GFCCC) and promotes Hampton’s many businesses and specialty shops. According GFCCC Executive Director Newton Grotzinger, this year’s Wine Walk was just two tickets short from selling out of all 250.

“And I’m not sure that we didn’t sell those two on Friday. A few people didn’t show up, but it was a good turn out,” he said. “You have to keep the people happy, and they really seem to enjoy this event.”

Grotzinger said the high turnout was nothing new for the Wine Walk. Fifteen local businesses participated in the event which began in the afternoon and wrapped up at 7:30 that night. Grotzinger explained the Wine Walk gives people a chance to relax and peruse Hampton’s businesses while sampling a vast array of tasty wines.
