Sheffield native Cody Arndt started his education like many young people in the area: by first graduating from West Fork High School, before pursuing a degree in English Education at North Iowa Area Community College, then at the University of Northern Iowa.
But after graduating college in 2015, Arndt took an unconventional approach to his career path. After substitute teaching at several area schools for one semester, instead of looking for a full-time job close to home while just starting out, he decided to travel across the globe to accept a position teaching English in Taichung, Taiwan.
Now, almost a year since leaving Sheffield to teach at Taiwan’s Ivy Collegiate Academy, Arndt will be returning to his hometown for the summer to not only visit with friends and family, but also use his passion for helping others learn by offering free English lessons at the Hampton Public Library.
The entire story appears in the June 7 print and online editions of the Hampton Chronicle.
