West Fork boys’ bolt past Northwood-Kensett

SHEFFIELD – As the news hit that West Fork two-time all-state player and leading scorer Zach Martinek was out against Northwood-Kensett, the Warhawks got out to a slow start against the Vikings.
But after N-K opened scoring with a free throw 2 minutes, 10 seconds into this Top of Iowa East Conference game, coach Frank Schnoes team took off like a shot, building a fast 10-1 lead and going on to command a 15-3 first quarter advantage.
“I was pleased,” Schnoes said of the team’s overall effort. “We’re trying to push the ball more than we did last year and we were able to do that without a lot of turnovers. The big area of concern for me is we’re getting the looks for shots that we want to get..."
