Weaver runner-up in home meet on late bump

ROCKWELL – A close race throughout this varsity girls’ event culminated in a late bump in a race to the line that had West Fork junior Kenna Weaver runner-up to Rockford’s Sheridan LaCoste.
Weaver, who admits she is still not 100 percent healthy, said that she’s had some close races before, but not quite like this one.
“I’ve had some pretty tough finishes where I really had to battle it out,” Weaver said. “I think our course is a little tough just because going downhill and you’re going so fast and it was really wet, it’s uneven and trying to stay in between the cones is really tough, so that was a really big battle..."
