Warhawk Girl Wrestlers Finding Stride

As the inagural girls wrestling season approaches the midway point, the West Fork Warhawk girls wrestlers have been able to experience the ups and downs of a wrestling season. From figuring out how girls tournaments will run and where to go to wrestle them to seeing success and growth in a new sport for some.
Coach Prestidge has had to make some tough decisions, such as cancelling a trip to Des Moines due to illness on the team. He is also seeing the growth the girls are having on and off the mat.
The Warhawk wrestlers headed to Fort Dodge for the Fort Dodge Invitational. The Warhawks would finish 7th as a team, but would face off with much larger schools with more wrestlers in their lineups. At 100 pounds, Ava Gauley would not place and go 1-2 in the tournament. Hampton junior, Teaghan Bird would go 3-1 in the tournament for the Bulldogs and claim 3rd place. Bird would have two pins throughout the tournament. Preslee Dickman would win the 120 pound bracket winning all four of her matches by fall. At 125 pounds, Autumn Stonecypher would finish in fourth place with a 3-2 record. Alicia Fink would finish 1-2 and not place in the tournament at 140 pounds. Jenny Ramirez would go 0-2 at 155 pounds. Joslyn Bordwell would place fourth in the 155 pound bracket. She would go 2-2 in the tournament. At 170 pounds, the Warhawks would have two wrestlers placing 3rd and 4th. Harmony Fessler would place 4th going 2-2, while Fernanda Ramirez would go 4-1 and finish 3rd. The Warhawks would finish with 99 points in 7th place. The Warhawks will return to the mat at home on Tuesday with their first ever dual in the West Fork Wellness Center against the Cedar Falls Tigers, Humboldt Wildcats, and Osage Green Devils.
