Ward 1 merry-go-round to continue with appointment

The Hampton City Council will appoint a new member to Ward 1 within the next month following a unanimous decision at last Thursday’s meeting.
     The unknown appointee will fill the hole left by outgoing Ward 1 Council Member Meghan Freie, who is moving from the area later this spring. Freie announced the news last week and intends to resign from her position effective May 31. The council hopes to find her replacement by April 9 to have a successor in line immediately after she steps down.
     “Hopefully we’ll get this thing filled quickly,” said Mayor Brook Boehmler. “It’d be great if we had a lot of people come forward to represent that area.”
