It was cleaning day out at Beed's Lake this weekend.
Volunteers got up bright and early on Saturday, Sept. 22 and made their way to the state park to clear out damaged trees around the parking area.
The Mulberry trees around the parking area have been in poor condition for some time. Having been cut down once, the resilient trees regrew around their own stumps. But while the trees can be admired for their tenacity, their structural stability was less than certain.
"They were starting to fall down on their own," said Park Ranger Scott Doescher. "And the wind wasn't helping."
