Two more file for Franklin County offices

Franklin County voters will see two contested races on the Republican ticket in the June 3 primary election. Gary McVicker, Hampton, filed nomination papers for Supervisor District 2, while Cindy Dirksen, Hampton, filed nomination papers for county treasurer last week.

McVicker will challenge incumbent District 2 Supervisor Jerry Plagge for the GOP’s nomination in June. Dirksen will face incumbent Treasurer Chad Murray, who filed for re-election earlier this month. The two filings brings the total number Franklin County candidates to six, with incumbent District 1 Supervisor Mike Nolte and incumbent county Recorder Toni Wilkinson running uncontested in the June 3 Republican primary.

As of Tuesday morning, no Democrats had filed nomination papers for any county office. Candidates must have their nomination papers turned in to county Auditor Michelle Giddings by 5 p.m. today (Wednesday).
