HUMBOLDT – Improvement was there, but handling a potent passing attack like Humboldt is not what the young Hampton-Dumont football team needed as it fell to 0-2 with a 51-14 non-district loss on Friday, Sept. 1.
The Wildcats’ senior quarterback Drew Thomas threw six touchdown passes on 19-of-28 attempts for 251 yards with no interceptions, hitting four different targets en route to handing the Bulldogs the road loss.
“You could tell their quarterback is good, a three-year starter who has thrown the ball a lot,” First-year H-D head coach Dan Aalbers said. “They have some receivers with skill and they did (score). I don’t think they ran for a ton of yards, at least not as much as I hoped.”
