Tim Borcherding

Tim Borcherding, 68, of Coulter, went home to be with the Lord on October 16, 2024. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. Tim was laid to rest in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Latimer. Woodley Funeral Home of Hampton cared for Tim and his family.

Tim was born on July 23, 1956, to the proud parents of Darrel and Norma (Stratmann) Borcherding in Hampton, Iowa. He was baptized into Christ on August 5, 1956, and confirmed on March 22, 1970. Tim attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School until 8th grade and graduated from CAL High School in 1974. While in high school Tim loved playing football, baseball, and golf. He was also active in band, musicals, and plays.

After high school, Tim attended Hawkeye Tech Automotive School and opened Tim’s Auto Clinic in 1981 in Coulter. On April 8, 1978, he married his high school sweetheart Joyce Harris.

Tim found a career he loved at Eaton’s in Belmond, and after 27 years retired in 2011. Tim enjoyed serving his community and his church. Over the years he served on the Coulter City Council, was a member of the Coulter Fire Department and was an elder at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Latimer. He also loved everything about cars and racing. He could often be found in the garage watching a NASCAR race or tinkering on one of the cars or trucks. He also loved going deer hunting in the fall and playing golf.

Tim is survived by his wife Joyce of Coulter; sons: Andrew (Kendra) Borcherding of Grimes, Todd (Erika) Borcherding of Grimes, and Marc Borcherding of Des Moines; grandchildren: Aubrey (15), Olivia (14), Austin (14), Charlie (14), Cullen (13), Brycen (13) and Reese (11); siblings: Kay Hinrichs of Hampton, Jean (Mike) Tomlinson of Rockport, IN, and Steve (LaShell) Borcherding of Latimer

He was preceded in death by his parents Darrel and Norma Borcherding.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Latimer.
