DIKE – Patty Teggatz became only the second Hampton-Dumont girls’ cross country runner to accomplish a three-time state appearance with a top-10 finish at Dike’s Fox Ridge course on Thursday, Oct. 19.
Teggatz, a senior who reached Fort Dodge’s Kennedy Park course her freshman and junior seasons and only just missed her sophomore year, ran to a time of 20 minutes, 45 seconds to finish eighth.
Just the top-15 individuals and top three teams advance.
Only Amanda Huling, who reached the state field from 2001-03, did so before for the Bulldogs. Earlier this season, Teggatz matched Huling for North Central Conference honors.
The full story appears in the Oct. 25 print and online editions of the Hampton Chronicle.
