SHEFFIELD – November 11, 2014 marks the one year anniversary for Sydney Shreckengost being cancer-free.

Prior to the start of the 2013-14 season, she was feeling very lethargic and went for a doctor check-up.

There, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, just like her mother Tracy, who had it in 2007.

“I’m competitive in sports, so I didn’t think it would be too hard to beat this,” Sydney Shreckengost said.

So, when the Coaches vs. Cancer girls’ basketball game tips this Saturday at West Fork High School, this ultra-competitive Warhawk senior will have more than the usual fight in her.
