Supervisors mull zoning policy for sexually-oriented businesses

Strip clubs, burlesque houses and other adult-only businesses were at the center of attention during the Franklin County Board of Supervisors meeting on Dec. 17.

     The board met with Zoning Director Russell Wood to discuss the county’s policy regarding “adult use” businesses. There is currently no zoning ordinance in place regulating where such a business could be located, and Wood recommended that the supervisors adopt new guidelines in case one would open somewhere in Franklin County.

     Many cities already have their own ordinances in place. In Hampton, adult use businesses can only locate to heavy industrial-zoned property.
