Spreading holiday spirit one wreath at a time

The smell of pine hung thick in the air, decorations lined the walls, and there was a dish of candy canes set out on a table.

     It was late November, but it sure felt like Christmas at the Carlson Tree Farm in rural Coulter.

     “It’ll really pick up after Thanksgiving. Next week it’ll be really busy,” said owner Cathy Carlson.

     This might have been the calm before the storm, but Carlson, along with her husband Dennis, were busy preparing for the upcoming holiday rush. The farm was hosting their weekly wreath-making class on this particular Tuesday night, and the barn was buzzing with activity as four guests created their first-ever one-of-a-kind wreath.

     “It’s something we offer to people who’ve patronized us over the years,” Carlson explained. “It a great chance for ladies to get together and help celebrate the holidays.”
