Sheriff's office honors two retiring clerks

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office lost 77 years of administrative experience when veteran clerks Cheryl Crandall and Kathy Heilskov retired last week.
      “They were very dedicated to their job and they made it very enjoyable working here,” Sheriff Larry Richtsmeier said at the retirement party for the two clerks. “You aren’t going to find two more caring people.”
     Friends, family and co-workers gathered at the Franklin County Law Enforcement Center on Tuesday, March 31, to celebrate the long careers of Crandall and Heilskov.
     Crandall started as an office clerk in 1972 under then new sheriff, Duane Payne. Frustrated that keeping track of the paperwork was preventing him from getting out among the people, Sheriff Payne got permission to hire Crandall for a part-time position.
