With the filing deadline for city council and mayoral election candidates passing last week, the slate of candidates in every city in Franklin County has been finalized.

A list of official candidates for the city council and mayor seats in Alexander, Coulter, Latimer, Hampton, Geneva, Hansell, Popejoy, and Sheffield was announced by Franklin County Auditor Michelle Giddings on Monday.

Most of the cities feature light slates of candidates running unopposed, however Geneva and Sheffield have contested races for not only the mayor's seat, but also spots on the city council.

In Sheffield, three candidates have filed for the mayoral seat: Sheri Bogue, Dennis Kingery, and Nick Wilson. The mayor's term ends in 2015. On the council side of the ballot, three candidates are vying for two at-large seats with terms ending in 2017: J.C. McCaslin, Mike McKee, and Shirley Meints.
