Sheffield celebrates People in the Park

The rain couldn't dampen the spirits of the Sheffield community this weekend as they celebrated their annual People in the Park event.
The festivities kicked off with an omelet breakfast at the West Fork lunchroom provided by the Sheffield Library Foundation. Following that, garden tractors were put out to show their stuff outside the school's athletic complex.
With dark skies overhead, it literally rained on the parade for a few minutes, but the show went on as a variety of businesses, organizations, and local personalities made their way through the streets.
Following the parade, the fun at the park really began, starting with the awarding of local dignitaries. Grand Marshal Shirley Brady was honored for her role in the parade, John and Meta Lage were recognized for being Outstanding Citizens, and Marilyn Sheahan received the CC Gilman Award for her contributions to the community.
