Hampton-Dumont High School Principal Steve Madson will be the first to say this time of year is bittersweet.
Friday morning, members of this year’s H-D graduating class gathered for the Community Senior Send-Off at Trinity Lutheran Church. This was a chance for Addressing the crowd, Madson said he was proud of the seniors for their accomplishments, perseverance and ambition to seek higher education, but that he’ll miss their contributions to H-D.
“These days are always bittersweet for me as a high school principal,” he said. “Any school you’re going to go to, I’m glad you’re going.”
Madson added this year’s seniors have made the most of their time at H-D and served as an example for younger students.
“We’ve had good days and we’ve had not so good days,” he said, “but I’m proud of every one of you and I’m thankful you’re here today.”
The Senior Send-Off was part of College Decision Day, which celebrates graduating seniors’ initiatives to pursue higher education and aims to encourage younger students to consider taking steps towards college enrollment.
