With mere days left before the 2018 general election, J.D. Scholten is still on the trail, stopping in Hampton on Tuesday, Oct. 23 for a town hall style meeting at Hampton-Dumont High school.
The stop in Hampton was Scholten's 37th of his third 39 county district tour since starting his campaign.
"Just because it's the 37th, don't think you aren't special," joked Scholten as he opened the meeting.
Scholten, a former professional baseball player turned paralegal, announced his candidacy last July and won the Democratic primary nomination with 51% of the vote in a three person race. Since then, Scholten has been campaigning to de-seat eight term incumbent Republican Steve King, who has represented Iowa's 4th District since the redistricting of 2012.
