Rural fire destroys utility shed

A Thursday morning fire billowed smoke – visible from the Franklin County courthouse — at Roger Aschnabel Farm, in rural Chapin, 2030 Jonquil Ave. The fire destroyed a machine shed and all of its contents, including a tractor.
Members of the Sheffield, Latimer and Hampton fire departments fought the blaze. Members of the Franklin County Emergency Management, Franklin General Hospital, Franklin County Rural Electric Cooperative and DeBour Electric assisted the firemen. Sheffield was on the scene for approximately 90 minutes, with the fire controlled in 15 minutes.
