Rodemeyer sentenced to 30 years in prison

Michael Lynn Rodemeyer Sr., 72, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for three counts of sexual abuse in the third degree at his sentencing hearing on Oct. 12.
Rodemeyer was accused of engaging sexually with a minor on several occasions, and was initially facing two counts of sexual abuse in the second degree from the Hampton Police Department, and one count of sexual abuse in the second degree and one count of sexual abuse in the third degree from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
    According to Iowa court documents, Rodemeyer admitted to his family and the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) that he did commit the charges filed by the Hampton Police Department.
