Hampton last week hosted two hopefuls for the Democratic Presidential nomination in the 2020 election.
First, on Thursday, Aug. 8, John Delaney stopped in Hampton for a visit to La Luz Hispana and a speaking appointment at Rustic Brew.
At the Rustic Brew stop, Delaney, the former Maryland congressman, said that what the country needs is a president with an economic mind who will work to unite the country’s people.
He said the Democratic Party’s number one goal should be to elect the candidate they feel can best beat current United States President Donald Trump in the election. The candidate should strive to unite not just Democrats, but progressives, moderates, independents and even Republicans.
“He’s (Trump) is a reckless and lawless president and what we’ve seen the last several days just underscores the need to get him out of office in 2020,” he said.
