Post-season tune-up for Bulldogs

HAMPTON – In a preview of the Class 3A District 6 baseball game, the Bulldog baseball team defeated Waverly-Shell Rock, 4-2, at their place on Thursday, July 11.
Of course, neither team showed each other its top pitcher, but according to Bulldog head coach Matt Lokenvitz, the rest of the lineup should remain the same when they face off at Hertel Field on the Wartburg Campus on Friday, July 19.
“Neither one of us threw our best pitcher,” Lokenvitz said, “but we both got to see the lineup probably which is going to be out there. Position players are going to be the ones that are out there, so it’s going to come down to eventually who is going to be able to pitch better, whose ace is better. This is a great win for our guys, a good confidence-builder knowing we are going up against them (in a week). They are the two seed, we are the seven..."
